RAF Brize Norton

The ‘Run met it’s now customary, travelling RAF police escort on arrival at the RAF’s largest station - RAF Brize Norton. Taxiway Golf had been closed for the ‘Run and a national ‘NOTAM - ‘Notice to Airmen’ issued advising that the ‘Run had taken its position on the tarmac.

With a sub theme of ‘Leviathan’s of air and land,’ two further assets joined the 2023 pack. The A400M Atlas and C17 Globemaster courtesy of the Strategic and Tactical. The Globemaster itself was capable of carrying 12 of the ‘Runs cars France bound and the Atlas a further 6.

After a welcoming address from the Station Commander, it was time for a “hats off, coffee chat” about the station itself; and then a visit to understand the specialist skills employed parachuting military vehicles and ‘Run cars out of planes.

Soon it was time for the ‘Runners to board both planes and enjoy some onboard time with the roar of props and jets…
