Toyota GB return, and it's a big 'Welcome' for Pittards to the 'Run!
'Runners across Europe are preparing themselves for the start of this years epic adventure. Converging on the UK are an eclectic mix of vehicles from the latest McLaren GT through to daily drives, off roaders and even a lightweight E-Type Jaguar.
This year sees 'Runners commemorating the 'Great Escape' of 75 years ago as they traverse France. Some of their routes taken, would have been used by 'downed' airmen in WW2 as they tried to make their way home. In a fun and respectful way they will undertake their escape looking for their own tunnels - 'Tom', 'Dick' and 'Harry' on their quest to gather this year's first Beaujolais and repatriate it to the UK, safely celebrating our Beaujolais Race™ heritage too. In addition we will celebrate the greatest form of escape transport- the helicopter.
Having started from a secret UK location, pertinent to the escape, and visited their first destination they will head for France. Carrying a mix of personal stories their crews include couples, Fathers and Sons, all girl teams and those wishing to pay tribute to loved ones; all being France bound raising money for the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund. There's sure to be a lot of fun during the week and they will be hosted and entertained in style as they travel. With the support of the Royal Air Force, the "Run will let it's participants re-live the story of the brave men who escaped Stalag Luft III and tried to make their way home.
The 'Run is always grateful to it's event partners and once again thanks to Toyota GB, the wish list of a pair of four wheel drives for our support crews was made possible to keep the event rolling smoothly. In addition to retaining all existing partners, a new addition for 2019 are Pittards a great British company producing the finest leather goods. It's fine leather would have been used for flying helmets and gloves in period by the RAF. As part of their support they have kindly manufactured a commemorative gift for each crew member to assist in their journey on this year's 'Run.
