SCRAMBLE ‘Dambusters’ style....
It’s a “SCRAMBLE” for The Beaujolais Run’s cars this weekend as they launch the 2018 event at RAF Scampton, in Lincolnshire, the home of the ‘Dambusters.’ The entered crews will visit the hallowed hall’s of 617 Squadron, Wing Commander Guy Gibson’s office and the grave of his faithful Labrador. They will then be accessing the Heritage Centre, which holds all manner of 617 Squadron ephemera, in the hangar used by the Lancaster bombers before they took to the famous runway.
Runway ‘two two’ is fully active and follows the line of the original ‘Dambusters’ grass strip. It is 1.7 miles long, which allowed a fully laden Lancaster to get not the air. It also gives plenty of room, and none of the restrictions, to stretch the leg’s of the ‘Runs eclectic mix of vehicles.
From classic cars to daily drives and Rolls Royce to Smart Car this year’s event has it all! Including some very special visitors...
